the absolute state of the medical system
Nov. 20th, 2022 04:44 pmSo, yesterday I've had my consultation for a surgery I thought was my only way out of legally not being allowed to do most sports and even go to the gym. You'd think after being told my whole life that I can go blind from simply exerting myself too much there wouldn't be that many questions, they'd just take a look at me and give me a date
But its not that fucking simple is it. In fact it's even MORE simpler than that. They said that no surgery was needed in the first place
Naturally I was pissed off like what do you MEAN no surgery is necessary are you dumb. what am I paying you for. But no apparently my entire life has been a lie. Even after being supervised at the eye ward of my local hospital multiple times throughout my life there wasn't much questioning the fact that my retina is thinned out and may detach. But apparently having one dedicated retina guy at a private clinic look at it once was worth more than all the years I've spent going to docs over and over again.
Apparently while yes it's thinning in some places its state is normal for my level of vision problems and that the only risk of it detaching is from a traumatic head injury. So all I have to do is get it check out every once in a while (like once a year) and thats it. I'm free to go.
I know I should be happy that I'm not in immediate danger of going blind and can feel free to do whatever I want but god fucking damn it. I've been told this shit since I was 6 years old and having it now be debunked is making me so mad
